Mountainview Elders
Daniel Anderson

My wife Jeanetta and I have been living in Madrid and attending Mountainview for nearly 2 years now. We are both from the Midwest of the US, and are enjoying this season of life living in Spain. We were both very involved in various forms of ministry in the church that we attended in the U.S. I served on the deacon board and Jeanetta was involved with the women’s ministry and the children’s ministry. We count it a privilege to be able to serve here at Mountainview alongside people from around the world.

My wife Cathy ( Californian ) and I ( Northern Irish ) have been living in Madrid very happily for 9 years and have 2 young children. We have been part of MV for 5 years. We have both enjoyed getting involved in the worship team and I have been serving as chairman of the Elder Board for about a year and a half now.

I am a married to Begoña and I have two daughters, Esther and Sarah. I was born in Madrid but lived for many years in Zimbabwe and South Africa. After serving with two missionary organisations in South Africa, Youth With A Mission and Elyon, I returned in Spain where I have been involved in several outreach ministries. On returning to Spain, I also began working at the South African Embassy.

Despite my British roots I was born in Madrid and always attended Spanish schools. From my earliest years I was in a family that was committed to knowing, loving and serving God. Life was not boring! We had lots of visitors including people needing help such as refugees from places like Cuba , Iran , Ethiopia and Nigeria . As a teenager I really wanted to confirm my commitment to God and I was baptised before studying at London University , including a year in Italy , but then returned to Madrid to do a Masters in International Development. That is where I met my wife, Cristina. After we married we worked together in an NGO in Bosnia and since then my work has mainly involved East Africa and Tsunami struck Indonesia . I have worked in the International Office of the Spanish Red Cross and currently I am working with AMREF Flying Doctors. Cristina works in the Red Cross and we have two children, Oliver and Norah.

After spending the first seventeen years of my life in a suburb of Chicago, I went to study on the East coast and I have been moving around ever since. My wife, Maryan (English/Irish) and our five children and I have lived in Madrid for nearly 7 years. Our first few Sundays at MV, now 5 years ago, are full of happy memories of being with other intercultural English-speaking believers. Since those days we have grown to love and hold very special the amazing blend of people who we are privileged to meet and to get to know at Mountainview. I have been serving as an elder for 2 years

As the Pastor of Mountainview I also serve on the elder team. I am truly grateful for the elders who do so much to support the ministry at Mountainview. In case you are wondering, having a large family is not a requirement for being an elder at Mountainview...but it helps!
