Mountainview's History

Christian Associates International began dreaming of starting a church in Madrid at least as far back as 1995. To that end, Christian Associates made several trips to Madrid to investigate the possibility of such a venture and prayed that God would open up a door there. Prayers were answered in March of 2002 when two families, the Cady family and the Wallace family, arrived to begin Mountainview International Church.

In the autumn of 2002 Mountainview launched three Mountainview Groups (Suburbs) with about 45 people and the church grew steadily into a community of about 100. Within this timeframe the Crull’s, the Sensenig’s, and later Kelly Wills joined the staff team.

Even before we started in 2002 we dreamt that Mountainview would one day be a church that established other churches: that Mountainview would have babies! God threw us a big surprise in August of 2005! Mountainview had for a long time been developing into 2 distinct congregations, a suburban congregation in the NW and a city centre congregation called Oasis. It was decided, together with Christian Associates, that the 2 congregations were unique enough to have their own “full staff” team. In October of 2005 Richard and Riekje Richard and Riekje Wallace took on the visionary leadership for Mountainview and Troy and Heather Cady took on the visionary leadership for Oasis.

Rick Warren, the author of the international bestseller, The Purpose Driven Life says that “We need all sorts of churches to reach all sorts of people!” We believe our multiplication into 2 unique churches means that more people in Madrid, Spain, will be reached by God and touched by His love.

Currently, Mountainview hosts 7 Mountainview Groups (Suburbs) and there are about 75 people involved on a regular basis. Following the multiplication Mountainview completed a season of redefining its identity and will begin weekly services on September 10, 2006.

At Mountainview our commitment has been, and will always be, towards seeing the Kingdom of God extended in surprising ways.
