Imagine…5,000 men, women and children in the NW of Madrid coming to faith in Christ. Imagine us getting together in a park one summer’s evening and worshipping Christ with such passion that the city of Madrid looks up and takes note!)
Vision: Churches that plant Churches
Over recent months Mountainview has been developing an expanded vision. A dream much bigger than Mountainview. A vision that leaves us in big trouble if God does not show up!
Less than 20% of people living in greater Madrid attend church (Catholic or Protestant). With over 7 million inhabitants there are over 5.6 million unchurched people. There are some 500,000 people living in the NW of Madrid (the general vicinity of Mountainview). Some 400,000 people on Mountainview’s “doorstep” are outside of a life-giving relationship with Christ.
There’s a need for over 500 churches in the NW of Madrid, 7,500 churches in the Comunidad of Madrid and over 40,000 churches in Spain! Even considering existing Catholic and Protestant churches there remains a great need for more local churches in Madrid and throughout Spain
Mountainview wants to be a church of “the book”. Within our “soul” must be found a God-given desire to plant churches where there are no churches. God’s Word and the great need compel us to conclude that God is calling Mountainview to plant more churches and to promote the health and multiplication of existing churches!
Local Vision:
We believe God has challenged us to pray and work towards Mountainview sharing the Gospel with 1% of the Spanish-professionals and their families living in the NW region of Madrid. That’s about 5,000 people! Peter reminds us that the heart of God is for everyone to be saved (2 Peter 3:9). It’s plausible to imagine that at this very moment over 1% of people living in the NW are in some way actively searching for God; “lost sheep” that we must seek and find and bring home to Jesus Christ.
Local Picture: Mountainview, at the hub of the NW, is well located to resource and stimulate 25 church-plants in Madrid’s NW region.
Bigger picture: Mountainview is well located at the heart of Spain to offer encouragement, support and training to a network of churches and church-plants across the Iberian region.
