About Community Groups

Community Groups

Community Groups are a great place to grow closer to God and closer to each other. Typically, our community groups meet in someone’s home and feature a meal together, a time of worship (through music or other expressions), prayer and discussions around a biblical theme. There are community groups meeting on almost every day of the week in varied locations so check out the section on Community Groups in the “Our Church” portion of the website to get more specific details. For now, here’s a brief description of some varied groups Mountainview has on offer on a regular basis.

The Alpha Course

Over 5 million people around the world have completed this practical introduction to the Christian faith. The comfortable format of a meal together, video presentation (on a wide range of Christian topics), and open discussion where every opinion counts, makes this an ideal setting for exploring and growing in faith. Mountainview regularly offers the Alpha Course in English and Spanish in the city and the suburbs. For more info, visit the Alpha website at alphacourse.org. To inquire about joining the next Alpha Course email us at info@mountainview-church.com

The Alpha Marriage Course

The Alpha Marriage Course is designed to strengthen marriages, by developing good habits (and will help mend broken ones). Topics covered include effective communication, expressing love, resolving conflict and giving forgiveness. Each session includes a meal together and a viewing of the Alpha Marriage Course on video, with further time allotted for couples to do exercises pertaining to the topic. Generally, childcare is provided. For more info, visit the Alpha Marriage Course website at themarriagecourse.org. The Parenting Course

The Parenting Course is designed to offer parents an opportunity to learn and develop valuable parenting skills. The course is not about therapy but rather offers you a safe and structured setting to explore and practice skills that may be beneficial to your parenting. The course cannot make you “perfect parents”, but we hope by the end of the course you find yourself “better” and “more confident” as parents.

Mountainview uses materials developed by the Family Caring Trust whose resources have become the most popular parenting materials in Britain and Ireland – used by more than half a million parents and endorsed by Educational Authorities, the Social Services and the Health Services. Alongside the group session’s each person works through a participants manual (10 € / each). This requires a minimal amount of reading and completing some straightforward exercises.

The Creative Call

If you have an artistic self inside you that has been hiding, this is the group for you. This is a ten-week exploration based on a book by Janice Elsheirmer titled “The Creative Call.” The book features exercises designed to unlock dormant creativity and promotes artistic discipline through the development of an “Artist’s Daybook.” For more info, contact troy@mountainview-church.com
